Working at Freudenberg: We will wow your world!<h1>Responsibilities:</h1><ul><li>Develop and industrialize AI‑ and data‑driven methods for automated and intelligent engineering workflows</li><li>Design and automate mechanical seal systems using parametric 3D CAD models and modular design concepts</li><li>Analyze existing seal series to identify opportunities for standardization, reuse, and automation</li><li>Develop prototypes and Proofs of Concept, including AI‑assisted CAD workflows, neural networks, optimization methods, and LLM‑based engineering assistants</li><li>Enable automated data exchange between engineering systems (e.g. CAD, PDM, ERP)</li><li>Conduct applied research: define hypotheses, train models, validate results, and transfer outcomes into scalable engineering solutions</li><li>Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary and international teams and contribute to internal knowledge sharing</li></ul><h1>Qualifications:</h1><ul><li>Master’s degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Computational Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field</li><li>Experience in applied research and/or industrial engineering with a strong focus on automation or digitalization</li><li>Strong expertise in mechanical design and 3D CAD, preferably Solid Edge or comparable systems</li><li>Solid programming skills in Python and experience developing data‑driven or AI‑based solutions</li><li>Practical experience in at least two of the following areas: neural networks, generative AI / LLMs and agentic systems, data analytics, MLOps, or platform development</li><li>Hands‑on experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow</li><li>Ability to work effectively across engineering, IT, and data science domains</li><li>Strong communication skills in English and German and willingness to collaborate in international teams</li><li>Willingness to travel during the first two years regularly to Freudenberg Technology Innovation (FTI) in Weinheim, Germany and a short-term assignment to USA (approximately 8 months)</li></ul>The Freudenberg Group is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion.
