If you're ready to drive change and make history, apply now!</div>OverviewThe CAE Energy Team within Scout comprises a small group of highly qualified engineers responsible for assessing energy consumption in support of component &amp; system specifications, and regulatory / customer focused drive cycles (including range, performance, towing, extremes of temperatures etc.).  This role is specifically designed for a lead engineer in the 1D thermal modeling supporting the team.What you’ll doBecome part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck &amp; rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:<ul><li>Own vehicle-level 1D thermal models and simulations for range extended electric and battery electric vehicles.  Sub-systems modeled will include LT coolant, refrigerant, engine coolant, and cabin. </li><li>Develop component and system level 1-D thermal models. </li><li>Identify model data requirements, work with thermal systems engineers to obtain, and review to ensure completeness and validity.  </li><li>Verify and validate proposed control strategies. </li><li>Execute transient simulations for thermal use cases, including fuel economy/range cycles, charging, warmup/cooldown, trailer towing, durability, and performance.</li><li>Correlate models with test data and 3D sub-models, aligning boundary conditions and validating system behavior across mode transitions.</li><li>Drive architecture trade-offs and issue resolution, balancing battery protection, cabin comfort, efficiency, and robustness under edge/degraded conditions.</li><li>Identify opportunities to reduce system energy consumption. </li><li>Use simulation to diagnose and propose solutions for development vehicle issues.</li></ul>Location &amp; Travel Expectations:<ul><li>This role will be based out of the Scout Motors corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC or Novi, Michigan. </li><li>This role requires daily attendance in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events. </li><li>Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.</li></ul>What you’ll bring We expect all Scout employees to have integrity, curiosity, resourcefulness, and strive to exhibit a positive attitude, as well as a growth mindset.
