This network strengthens grid stability - a critical foundation for scaling AI data centers and other energy-intensive industries. Purpose:The Electrical Engineer will provide electrical engineering expertise across the UK utility-scale solar and BESS portfolio, supporting projects from development through construction and commissioning. This role is focused on technical assurance, grid compliance, and electrical performance of projects, ensuring all systems are delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with operational and grid requirements. The position will work closely with internal teams, EPC contractors, and external consultants to support successful project delivery. This position reports to the Engineering Manager. Responsibilities we will trust you with:Electrical Engineering &amp; Assurance<ul><li>Act as the electrical SME across utility-scale solar and BESS projects</li><li>Review and validate designs from consultants and EPC contractors</li><li>Ensure systems are compliant, fit for purpose, and aligned with project requirements</li><li>Provide technical challenge to optimise performance and reliability</li></ul>Grid &amp; Compliance<ul><li>Review grid connection agreements and ensure DNO/TSO compliance</li><li>Oversee and validate grid studies conducted by third parties</li><li>Ensure compliance with UK Grid Code, G99/G100, and relevant standards</li><li>Support regulatory and technical compliance across all project phases</li></ul>Project Delivery<ul><li>Provide electrical support from development through commissioning</li><li>Act as key interface between internal teams and EPC contractors</li><li>Review deliverables and respond to technical queries (RFIs/TQs)</li><li>Support handover to operations, ensuring performance expectations are met</li></ul>Construction &amp; Commissioning<ul><li>Support site activities including construction, energisation, and commissioning</li><li>Witness testing of substations and grid connections</li><li>Troubleshoot electrical issues during delivery and early operations</li><li>Ensure as-built systems meet approved designs and grid requirements</li></ul>Stakeholder Collaboration<ul><li>Collaborate with development, construction, and asset management teams</li><li>Interface with DNOs/TSOs, ICPs, and external advisors</li><li>Support lender technical due diligence and independent engineer reviews</li></ul>RequirementsYour areas of knowledge and expertise:<ul><li>4–8+ years of experience in electrical engineering within the power or renewable energy sector </li><li>Experience working on utility-scale solar, BESS, or power infrastructure projects </li><li>Strong understanding of MV/HV systems, substations, and grid connection infrastructure </li><li>Familiarity with UK grid connection processes and standards (DNO/TSO, Grid Code, G99/G100) </li><li>Experience reviewing electrical studies (load flow, fault level, protection coordination) </li><li>Exposure to commissioning and energisation of electrical systems </li><li>Ability to review and challenge third-party engineering deliverables </li><li>Strong understanding of electrical safety and compliance requirements</li></ul>As a person:<ul><li>Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety and compliance</li><li>Confident in challenging external contractors and consultants</li><li>Proactive, solutions-oriented, and comfortable in a delivery-focused environment</li><li>Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multiple stakeholders</li></ul>
