With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.</p><h2>Overview</h2><p>Joby Aviation is seeking a People Team Specialist to join our Santa Cruz team. This role supports key functions within the Employee Relations and Compliance team, with an emphasis on delivering a welcoming new hire onboarding/orientation experience and supporting key compliance functions for the People team. As a People Team Specialist, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring employees feel supported from their first interaction with Joby through their entire employee lifecycle. You’ll work closely with cross-functional People teams while managing sensitive information with accuracy, discretion, and care. As well as manage various aspects of our People compliance program.</p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul> <li>Create a positive and welcoming experience for all new hires by coordinating and leading new hire orientation sessions</li> <li>Serve as a primary point of contact for incoming employees, responding to questions and requests for information prior to their start date</li> <li>Ensure all new hire documentation and information is accurate, complete, and submitted on time</li> <li>Coordinate and process pre-employment requirements, including background checks and drug &amp; alcohol testing</li> <li>Generate and maintain reports from various HR systems for the Employee Relations and Compliance team and other People teams as needed</li> <li>Support internal compliance audits, including I-9 audits</li> <li>Deliver timely, thoughtful, and high-quality support to employees and internal stakeholders</li> <li>Create, maintain, and organize employee files in accordance with compliance requirements</li> <li>Oversee compliance training via the learning management system</li> <li>Stay apprised of current and changing state and federal Regulations and communicate upcoming changes to the People Team</li> <li>Work within the Employee Relations and Compliance Team on necessary People compliance tasks</li> <li>Work primarily within digital systems and tools, including Trailiant LMS, Google Workspace, Microsoft Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and DocuSign</li> <li>Collaborate closely with the Employee Relations team and provide additional support as needed</li> <li>Perform other duties as assigned</li></ul><h2>Required</h2><ul> <li>2+ years of experience in People Operations, HR Compliance, or a related field</li> <li>Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li> <li>Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships</li> <li>Demonstrated work ethic with a proactive, service-oriented mindset</li> <li>Excellent judgment and discretion when handling sensitive employee information</li> <li>Comfortable working cross-functionally with Legal, Safety, Facilities, and Payroll teams</li> <li>Proficiency with DocuSign, HRIS systems, and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace</li> <li>Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple time-sensitive workstreams</li> <li>Ability to work onsite at least 4 days per week, including Mondays</li></ul><h2>Desired</h2><ul> <li>Experience working with HR systems, tools, or processes</li> <li>Background in human resources, compliance, or a related field</li> <li>Experience working in a startup environment</li> <li>Experience building dashboards with Claude Code, Google Scripts, or via other programs</li> <li>Experience with workers' compensation audits</li> <li>Knowledge of California, New York and or Ohio-specific employment compliance requirements</li> <li>Familiarity with DOT regulations (Part 135 or similar) </li> <li>Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple time-sensitive workstreams</li> <li>Excellent judgment and discretion when handling sensitive employee information</li> <li>Comfortable working cross-functionally with Legal, Safety, Facilities, and Payroll teams</li> <li>Proficiency with DocuSign, HRIS systems, and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace</li></ul><h2>Additional Information</h2><p>Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
