Talen Energy is soliciting candidates interested in filling the position of Mechanical Maintenance Foreman at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station located near Berwick, Pennsylvania.  Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, one of the largest dual-unit, Boiling Water Reactor sites in the U.S., delivers approximately 2700 MW of electricity to the grid in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Susquehanna Nuclear is a member in good standing with the Utilities Service Alliance.  Located less than 30 miles south of Wilkes-Barre at the western edge of the picturesque Pocono Mountains vacation region, we are conveniently located near the arteries which connect all the major East Coast cities. Susquehanna Station represents the nuclear portion of Talen Energy, one of the largest competitive energy and power generation companies in North America.  Talen Energy offers its employees a generous and progressive array of compensation, benefits and growth opportunities. The purpose of this position is to provide direction and oversight for crew work and work review and to enforce Nuclear Department goals with the crew, making sure workers are adhering to station programs, work related procedures, work plans, and plant standards.Primary Responsibilities <ul><li>Layout and implement strategies to complete work assignments per the scheduled times.</li><li>Direct and supervise work being performed in the plant, labs, and shops by Maintenance personnel.</li><li>Help crew members develop work related skills pertaining to their job and perform task evaluations for worker certification.</li><li>Answer technical work-related questions to the crew.</li><li>Develop troubleshooting plans and direct troubleshooting activities for equipment related problems in the power plant to pinpoint the exact problems.</li><li>Enforce Nuclear Department goals and expectations.</li><li>Provide feedback to Planning when we see a better or more cost-effective way of performing certain jobs.</li><li>Motivate the crew while performing tasks, keeping an open mind and good attitude towards the position.</li><li>Maintain necessary qualifications and expertise to be able to respond and lead in plant response to upset conditions within the Nuclear Emergency Response Organization.</li></ul>Basic Qualifications <ul><li>High School Diploma or Equivalent required.</li><li>Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a nuclear power plant, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and testing a wide variety of equipment typical to nuclear power generating stations.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications <ul><li>Should have a good knowledge of the systems within a power plant.</li><li>Should have good technical ability on almost all plant equipment which could break down.</li><li>Should have good interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to lead, coach and correct direct reports and peers.</li><li>Task certified on equipment being reworked; Energy Control Process certified; Emergency Plan Position certified.</li></ul>Note: You will have an opportunity to add attachments to your application.
