Over time, this role will naturally expand into broader oversight of the close process, audits, and financial structure consistent with a Controller-level position.If you’re someone who’s been executing at a high level but hasn’t yet been given the reins—this is that opportunity.What You’ll OwnAccounting Operations &amp; Accuracy<ul><li>Lead all core accounting functions: AP, AR, payroll coordination, general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close</li><li>Ensure financials are accurate, timely, and complete—no surprises</li><li>Act as both a working manager and technical resource across the team</li><li>Maintain clean, reliable data to support decision-making and growth</li><li>Step in where needed—this is a leadership role, not a “delegate-only” role</li></ul>Controller-Track Responsibilities<ul><li>Build and maintain audit-ready financials and supporting schedules</li><li>Strengthen internal controls and close discipline</li><li>Prepare for and support external audits as a primary contact</li><li>Partner directly with ownership on financial review and insights</li><li>Gradually take ownership of close oversight, reporting structure, and controls</li></ul>Process Improvement &amp; Systems<ul><li>Standardize workflows and reduce key-person dependency</li><li>Improve documentation across all accounting processes</li><li>Identify inefficiencies and implement practical solutions</li><li>Elevate the clarity and usefulness of financial reporting</li></ul>Team Leadership<ul><li>Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff</li><li>Set expectations, hold the line on performance, and build accountability</li><li>Foster a team that values accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement</li><li>Work cross-functionally to resolve issues with a company-first mindset</li></ul>What You Bring<ul><li>Strong technical accounting foundation (GAAP)</li><li>Multi-entity experience is a plus</li><li>Advanced Excel skills—you don’t just use it, you leverage it</li><li>Experience with accounting systems / ERP platforms</li><li>Ability to operate as both a doer and a leader</li><li>Organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable managing competing priorities</li><li>Clear, confident communicator—especially with ownership</li><li>A proactive mindset—you fix problems instead of working around them</li></ul>Education &amp; Experience<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field</li><li>CPA strongly preferred</li><li>5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience</li><li>2+ years in a lead or supervisory role</li></ul>Compensation &amp; Benefits<ul><li>Salary: $98,000 – $138,000 annually (exempt)</li><li>Medical, Dental, Vision benefit 100% paid for by employer for employee</li><li>100% employer-paid L&amp;I coverage</li><li>Employee Assistance Program (EAP)</li><li>Paid Sick Leave: 1 hour per 40 hours worked</li><li>Stable, team-oriented environment with long-term growth potential</li></ul>Location &amp; Work EnvironmentHybrid role (primarily remote) with ability to report to:<ul><li>Mount Vernon (HQ): 13084 Ball Road</li><li>Bellingham : 885 E Bakerview Rd.</li></ul>Must be able to be onsite within 24 hours when needed.
