This role is accountable for market price forecasts, asset gross margin projections, and strategic market assessments across assigned North American power markets. The Senior Specialist leads modeling efforts, directs consultant/internal work, and delivers clear, decision‑ready recommendations to senior leadership. You Will Contribute to Our Team By:<ul><li>Owning long‑term fundamental power market forecasts (energy, capacity, ancillary services, and environmental products) for assigned regions.</li><li>Reviewing, developing, and defending key market assumptions including supply, demand, fuel prices, emissions pricing, policy impacts, and cost of new entry (CONE).</li><li>Leading asset‑level gross margin projections, dispatch modeling, and financial proformas to support budgeting, long‑term planning, and project valuations.</li><li>Supporting business development and expansion initiatives by delivering price forecasts, dispatch analysis, and due diligence assessments for new investments.</li><li>Providing strategic market insights to Commercial and Supply &amp; Trading teams to support origination, hedging, and contracting strategies.</li><li>Managing external consultants, including scope definition, assumption review, quality control, and interpretation of results.</li><li>Preparing and delivering presentations and briefings to cross-functional teams, senior management and executive teams on market outlooks, risks, and opportunities.</li><li>Monitoring regulatory, policy, and market design developments, assessing their commercial, financial impacts and incorporating their implications into price projections.</li><li>Designing and implementing market dashboards for consumption across the company.</li></ul>What You Will Bring to the Role:Education and Experience<ul><li>Degree in Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Commerce.</li><li>Master’s degree or professional designation (or progress toward one) is an asset.</li><li>5+ years of experience in North American power and gas markets.</li><li>Demonstrated experience forecasting wholesale electricity prices and asset revenues.</li><li>Proven ability to translate complex market dynamics into actionable business recommendations.</li></ul>Technical &amp; Professional Skills<ul><li>Advanced quantitative and financial modeling skills (CONE, LCOE, dispatch, gross margin).</li><li>Strong understanding of power market structures and regulatory frameworks.</li><li>Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and exercise sound judgment.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive‑level presentations.</li><li>Proficiency in Excel, Python and data analysis tools; exposure to market models is an asset.</li></ul>Additional Details:The pay range for this position is $117,000 – $169,000 USD.The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior relevant experience.
