In this role you will work as part of a team focusing on projects related to complex human and environmental risk assessments, public health, product stewardship and sustainability, and environmental and consumer product regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate for this position should be open to collaboration on multidisciplinary work and developing and expanding new areas of expertise.</p><h2>You will be responsible for</h2><ul> <li>Supporting multidisciplinary project teams on complex, challenging problems </li> <li>Providing toxicology support to regulatory and technical staff</li> <li>Reviewing, summarizing, and interpreting scientific literature, regulatory standards, guidance documents, and legal case materials </li> <li>Synthesizing technical information and applying creative and critical thinking to prepare and review reports and technical presentations</li> <li>Developing and maintaining professional status by authoring peer-reviewed publications, and participation in technical conferences and activities of professional societies</li> <li>Working cooperatively on projects with members of the Health Sciences team and interdisciplinary groups across other Exponent practices, as appropriate</li></ul><h2>You will have the following skills and qualifications</h2><p>Required skills and qualifications:</p><ul> <li>Strong background in Human Health Toxicology and/or Risk Assessment</li> <li>Ph.D. in Environmental Health Sciences, Toxicology, Public Health, or related discipline</li> <li>Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, adaptable, and effective with time management and capable of working independently and cooperatively in diverse teams </li> <li>Strong ability to prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines </li> <li>Exposure to sensitive information will necessitate considerable use of tact, diplomacy, discretion, and judgment</li> <li>Excellent communication, organization, and writing skills</li> <li>Willingness to learn and develop new areas of expertise</li> <li>Presently legally authorized to work in the United States.  No immigration sponsorship or processing required. </li></ul><p>Perferred skills and qualifications:</p><ul> <li>Interest in obtaining Certified industrial hygienist (CIH), Diplomat of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT), or related certifications</li> <li>Understanding of human health risk from exposure to chemical agents (e.g., metals, PFAS, volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds) </li> <li>Understanding of exposure and/or epidemiologic studies</li> <li>Understanding of federal, state, and international laws, rules, and regulations for chemicals of concern in consumer products (e.g., California Proposition 65, PFAS regulations, REACH or TSCA)</li> <li>Consulting experience in the health sciences space</li></ul><p> </p><p><em>Applicants are encouraged to submit a CV (Curriculum Vitae) with publications (feel free to include publications that are in review or pending) [not restricted to 1 page].</em></p><h2>Life @ Exponent</h2><p>To learn more about life at Exponent and our impact, please visit the following links:https://www.exponent.com/careers/life-exponent https://www.exponent.com/company/our-impact</p><p> </p><p>Attracting, inspiring, developing, and rewarding exceptional people with diverse backgrounds and expertise are central to our corporate culture. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent.
