Project
Kwinana Energy Recovery is Australia’s first waste-to-energy facility, transforming waste into renewable energy while supporting the circular economy. Diverting up to 460,000 tonnes of waste annually from landfill, the facility will generate 38 megawatts of baseload power—enough for over 50,000 households—while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 400,000 tonnes per year, equivalent to removing 85,000 cars from Perth’s roads.
Position
As the Health, Safety and Environment Manager, you will coordinate the implementation of the HSE Management System throughout the Project and ensure its adoption through performance of designated activities, audit of process application and effectiveness, and review of performance and compliance status.
Key Responsibilities
- Advises on facility contractual requirements of the Safety Management System as required
- Ensures that the safety of employees and subcontractors is the primary consideration of all facility constituents
- Ensure that Acciona's broad objectives and policies in relation to Quality, Safety and Environmental Management Systems are successfully implemented and ensure that the Operations Team is engendered with a safety-first culture.
- Ensures that all activities, processes and systems comply with applicable workplace health and safety laws, regulations and statutory obligations
- Leads the development of OSH strategies and the implementation of those strategies to optimise safety results across the facility
- Lead the development of safe working initiatives and the resolution of safety-related issues
Required Skills and Competencies
- Tertiary level or equivalent qualifications in WH&S management
- Lead Auditor qualifications in WH&S management systems
- Previous experience within the renewable energy or waste management sectors.
- 7+ years in operational experience in the application of safety management principles in the construction/ industry
- Strong understanding of Energy Recovery and related technologies and processes
