About the Role


We are looking for a Senior Vice President of Business Development  to join our dynamic, supportive team to work remotely from anywhere in the United States.


The SVP of Business Development will be responsible for driving revenue growth and strategic partnerships across various sectors. This role will oversee all business development activities, manage a team of business development professionals, and foster strong relationships with industry stakeholders to advance Pearl’s mission and achieve profitability goals.


As the SVP of Business Development, you will: 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with Pearl’s overall strategic objectives.  
  • Lead and mentor a team of business development professionals, including the VP of Real Estate, Sales Executive of Industry Partnerships, and Director of Pearl Credit, providing guidance, setting targets, and monitoring performance.  
  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities across various sectors, including but not limited to real estate, OEMs, industry partners, contractors, and the credit industry. Cultivate and manage those relationships once formed.
  • Negotiate and close strategic partnerships and business deals that drive revenue growth and market expansion.  
  • Where appropriate, represent Pearl at industry events, conferences, and meetings, promoting the company's value proposition and building brand awareness.  
  • Collaborate with the marketing team and executive team to develop effective marketing campaigns and sales collateral that support business development efforts.  
  • Monitor industry trends and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and threats and adapt business development strategies accordingly.  
  • Provide regular reports to the CEO on business development activities and progress.  
  • Support the development and implementation of new products and services that enhance Pearl’s value proposition.  
  • Contribute to thought leadership initiatives, such as speaking engagements, publications, and webinars, to increase awareness of Pearl.  
  • Assist in the development and management of the business development budget.  

 

What we’re looking for in a SVP of Business Development:

  • Degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field; (MBA) preferred.  
  • Proven track record of success in business development leadership roles, preferably within the proptech industry. 
  • 10+ years leading business development activities in a startup or small company that scaled to a profitable business.
  • Subject matter expertise in real estate or home improvement markets.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, able to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels.  
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute effective business development strategies.  
  • Excellent negotiation and closing skills with high-profile clients. 
  • Ability to lead, manage, and motivate a high-performing team with significant and timely revenue generating goals.
  • Proficient in using customer relationship management (CRM) software (Hubspot preferred) and other business development tools to ensure documentation and follow through of business development activities.
  • Authorization to legally work in the U.S. (Pearl is unable to sponsor employment visas at this time).
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Market salary based on experience and local conditions, in the range of $200k to $220k
  • Standard medical, vision and dental coverage provided at no cost for employees and their families, with option to select higher level coverage, in which case, employees cover only the added cost for the premiums
