The Design Engineering Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating through team personnel and activities concerned with the Manufacturing Engineering and Design Engineering functions.


You will make an impact in this role by:

  • Supervise the work of all Manufacturing and Design Engineering Department personnel.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of Engineering standards for internal functions as well as national or international levels, such as NFPA or ISO.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of Bill of Materials, part number implementation, and approvals of drawings.
  • Ensure the manufacturability of all products that are transitioned from Prototype to full production.
  • Consultation on solving technical issues at the manufacturing level as well as at the customer and field levels.
  • Responsible for the effective communications between Engineering functions and Operations, Customers, and Suppliers.
  • Ensure new product introduction and on-going development through "kick off" meetings with all applicable departments and funcr5ions.
  • Direct CAD operations and related systems including Solid Works, KULI, etc.
  • Advise on the feasibility of new products based on sales and marketing information or customer requirements.
  • Administer the development of product catalogs and promotion literature within the department.
  • Consultation with vendors and customers as required to solve technical issues.
  • Manage engineering documentation to support manufacturing of engineered products.
  • Supervise the development of operating procedures and work instructions as required.
  • Oversee internal training of both office and shop personnel for engineering related documents.
  • Following established quality system procedures and work instructions.
  • Other duties assigned.

Requirements


To be considered for the Design Engineering Manager role, you must have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Able to read, write, and comprehend blueprint interpretation.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Geometric dimensioning and tolerance is required. Familiar with computer-based systems operations.
  • Knowledge of APQP, manufacturing and quality processes and capabilities.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and Procedure Manuals.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complains.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tests as frequency distribution, determination of reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.
