Job Description
Job Summary:
The Director of Product Management: Digital Services will own and oversee the entire Raymarine digital services portfolio, including mobile applications, IoT devices, cloud services and interoperability with Raymarine electronics.
This role is responsible for setting the strategic direction, driving innovation, and ensuring the successful execution of digital products that enhance the customer experience and drive business growth. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with a deep understanding of digital technologies, strong business acumen, and a proven track record of managing complex digital portfolios.
A track record is developing mobile and IoT devices, as well as boating experience is highly preferred.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Market Exploration & Quantification - 20%
- Perform market research to understand regional patterns in markets, customer types, boating activities, etc.
- Maintain a knowledgebase of the competitive market, including high-level strategic focus, marketed feature sets, pricing strategies and ecosystem synergies.
Consumer Connection - 20%
- Invest time to fully understand boating consumers. Spend time on the water for observation and interviews with the goal of identifying unfulfilled needs and wants that can be addressed by future product offerings.
- Connect with Pro Ambassadors and Beta Testers to evaluate in-development products and benchmark performance against the relevant competitive set.
Strategic Planning - 25%
- Utilize insights from market research and consumer connections to support high-level strategic planning.
- Collaborate with the Global Product Management Team to identify and prioritize digital service opportunities.
- Evaluate the maritime and non-maritime connectivity solutions and establish a roadmap to rapidly increase the connectivity of target consumers.
Product Ideation & Ownership: - 25%
- Draft new product concepts to clearly portray value-generating products with features that will attract target consumers.
- Prioritize opportunities into a 5-year product roadmap of deliverable products and features.
- Ensure key product features are properly communicated with engineering teams for effective and efficient development.
- Champion product specifications through the entire product realization process to ensure the outcome delivers all impactful features.
- Own the respective portfolio throughout the entirety of the product lifecycle (from launch to retirement)
- Routinely monitor portfolio performance and present findings along with suggested action items.
Subject Manner Expertise: - 10%
- Support the organization as the digital services/mobile/cloud/connectivity subject manner expert.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing to develop effective launch materials that include details on segmentation focus, target consumer messaging and positioning of the Raymarine offering within the competitive set.
- Provide assistance to sales, marketing and product support to help maintain momentum throughout the entire product lifecycle.
- Represent all digital and IoT products within the product liaison group, helping determine the criticality of existing issues and prioritizing maintenance of line activities against new product development.
Job Qualifications:
- 5+ years of mobile application and/or IoT device experience
- 5+ years of product management experience
- Strong listening skills and ability to interpret findings into a prioritized list of deliverables
- Ability to think big picture and strategically plan multiple years in the future
- Ability to create and present compelling presentation content
- Ability to build and work reoccurring revenue financial models
Other Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree (Majoring in business, engineering or a related field)
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, and other collaboration tools
- Familiarity with recreational boating and willingness to participate in sea trials
