About the Job
The objective of Carbon2Nature Australia is to develop alliances and projects that capture carbon through Nature-Based Solutions, generating a positive impact on biodiversity, climate and local communities, while also promoting a sustainable economy.
Focused on nature restoration and conservation projects, the company contributes to decarbonization goals through the commercialization of high-quality carbon credits and biodiversity credits and finances additional climate mitigation measures for its customers.
The position of GM Operations aims to lead Carbon2Nature's subsidiary in Australia by developing strategic alliances in the ACCU scheme sector and the national regulatory bodies.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Carbon2Nature stakeholder (Iberdrola Group): coordinate, collaborate and communicate with all the multiple departments, staff and teams that provide service to Carbon2Nature.
- Support the global business development team in the search for new projects in Australia that meet Carbon2Nature's quality and safeguards criteria.
- Coordinate the workflow in the design and implementation of projects in the Australian portfolio applying Carbon2Nature procedures.
- Manage the process of selecting and hiring consultants and external project execution companies in Australia, including carbon project developers, conservation organisations, verification entities, public administrations, etc., following the Iberdrola Group's procedures.
- Tracking the evolution of state, national and international rules and standards to understand how potential changes could affect the deployment of investments in Australia.
- Represent Carbon2Nature at events and meetings. This will involve domestic and international travel.
- Coordinate with the global project management and development teams, as well as support the development of team management tools, workflows, to facilitate the evaluation, design and execution of projects.
- Manage relationship with National, State and Local Administrations.
- Review of Technical Specifications necessary for procurement processes for engineering, environmental, social and/or land management services.
- Budgetary control of expenditure or investment of projects under development.
- Monitoring of technical and economic planning.
- Preparation and presentation of investment dossiers.
- Reporting, planning, and economic control in Spain.
- Coordinate with teams in Australia and in Spain, including legal, procurement, finance, control, tax.
- Strategic planning of business development.
- Establish relationship with industry players.
Qualifications (required)
- Master’s degree in Environment, Engineering, or Business.
- Minimum 10 years of work experience
Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication (English).
- Proficiency in Spanish optional, but desirable.
- Creative, can think strategically – having strategic mindset.
- Agile and progressive.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of the affiliate business process.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Legal and/or regulatory experience.
- Strong business acumen.
Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
- Experience in sustainable investing, carbon emissions and biodiversity trading schemes in Australia.
- Knowledge of Australian and international climate policies and environmental markets, along with carbon standards and sustainability policies in forests, biodiversity, and agriculture.
- Experience in the management and negotiation of agreements for the acquisition of land for NBS projects
- Experience with local communities and Traditional Owners representatives across Australia.
