Job Summary

The Revenue Recovery and Billing group at Central Maine Power (CMP) is responsible for ensuring robust credit and collections and billing processing for over 670,000 customers.  With active customer account receivables totaling over $70m, providing roughly $20m in customer assistance annually, and producing over 7.8m bills annually, the Principal Analyst – Billing and Revenue Recovery position provides strategic thinking, collaboration and guidance to ensure all regulatory requirements are met, along with adherence to meeting key Customer Service SQIs.  A key focus of the position is to provide leadership and direction to ensure system processes are maximized, including leading efforts to implement new and/or enhanced system solutions to reduce overdue debt, which in turn mitigates socializing debt across all ratepayers, as well as maximizing the producing of accurate and on-time monthly customer bills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and in-depth research and analysis in the areas of maximizing revenue recovery (credit and collections active customer account balances more than $70m, financial assistance programs totaling over $20m) and billing processes that send out more than 7.8m bills annually, to effectively document business requirements and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Recognized as a subject matter expert (SME) to support key stakeholder and regulatory filings, meetings, committees, and/or hearing testimonials
  • Leads detailed design documentation of proposed system solutions utilizing trending and available technologies
  • Perform a liaison role between the business area and the more technical support organizational units to ensure business needs are properly documented and converted into technical requirements
  • Considered a “system architect” within all functionalities impacting revenue recovery and billing business and system processes, with the ability to properly communicate across multiple levels and audiences of the company, including executive management
  • Provide expert-level direction for major system upgrades and projects, key business deliverables, audits, and regulatory-driven efforts
  • Uses advanced knowledge to provide key interpretation and direction of regulatory initiatives and mandates, translating into business process impacts
  • Provide expert level research of system processes to identify potential risks and strategic opportunities to promote process improvements based on optimal business practices and alignment across the Avangrid organization
  • Promotes a customer service focus when approaching assigned projects and system trouble shooting
  • Able to represent company at industry events

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 10 years of experience. A minimum of 15 years of experience in Billing and/or Revenue Recovery processes in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree may be accepted.
  • Expert-level knowledge of SAP or similar ERP utility system processes and reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Significant experience with SAP or similar ERP query and reporting tools
  • Ability to create detailed and cross functional business requirements and recommended system designs from regulatory filings and/or customer service business opportunities while adhering to all applicable rules and regulations
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across various business areas, including Information Technology, external stakeholders, and executive management
