Overview
The Sr Industrial Engineer (Costing/Time Study) is a vital role within the Manufacturing Engineering team, focusing on optimizing manufacturing processes through detailed cost analysis and time studies. This position is responsible for conducting thorough analyses to identify cost-saving opportunities, improve production efficiencies, and reduce manufacturing lead times. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial engineering, exceptional analytical skills, and a proven track record in process improvement within a manufacturing environment. This position reports the Manager of Enterprise Process Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Design and conduct time studies and work sampling to accurately measure manufacturing activities, identifying bottlenecks and opportunities for process improvements.
- Perform cost analysis on manufacturing processes to identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency gains.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and finance teams to develop cost models for products and processes.
- Use Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement initiatives and reduce waste.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions based on time study and cost analysis findings.
- Participate in the design and layout of manufacturing facilities to optimize workflow and minimize production costs.
- Collaborate on the evaluation and implementation of manufacturing technologies and equipment to improve cost efficiency and productivity.
- Improve the product development process by providing detailed cost estimates and efficiency recommendations.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations on analysis findings, recommendations, and project progress for management review.
- Train and mentor team members on cost analysis, time study techniques, and continuous improvement principles.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and best practices in industrial engineering and manufacturing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years related experience with 3 or more in industrial engineering or a similar role, with a focus on costing and time studies in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in applying Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve manufacturing processes.
- Strong background in cost analysis and process optimization.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner.
- Proficient in the use of industrial engineering tools and software for process mapping, time study, and cost analysis.
- Team player with the ability to work collaboratively across different departments and disciplines.
