We hope you will join us.OverviewCCR is seeking a Director, Grid Integration to be one of the company’s top technical authorities on generation, storage, and large load interconnection. This role sits at the intersection of engineering rigor and commercial strategy — you'll translate complex power system behavior into clear, actionable guidance that shapes how CCR sites projects, manages interconnection risk, and wins in competitive ISO/RTO markets.This is a high-impact individual contributor and cross-functional leadership role reporting to the VP of Grid Integration.ResponsibilitiesInterconnection Engineering &amp; Site Screening<ul><li>Screen and qualify potential points of interconnection (POIs) across CCR's national portfolio based on cost, timing, constraint exposure, and upgrade risk — for solar, storage, and co-located large load sites.</li><li>Conduct steady-state power flow analysis using TARA, PSS/E, PowerWorld, or equivalent tools to identify attractive injection capacity and transfer capacity for load.</li><li>Forecast thermal overloads, estimated interconnection costs, and queue timing for projects across PJM, MISO, ERCOT, WECC, and other markets.</li><li>Develop automated tools and workflows to increase the frequency, speed, and accuracy of wide-area and injection screening.</li><li>Develop physical interconnection configuration designs for co-located generation and large load facilities to optimize speed-to-power and project sizing.</li></ul>Study Review &amp; Queue Strategy<ul><li>Review and independently replicate ISO/RTO interconnection study results to validate assumptions, identify errors, and challenge upgrade cost allocations where appropriate.</li><li>Identify queue attrition potential that may eliminate or reduce network upgrade requirements, and advise project teams accordingly.</li></ul>Commercial &amp; Strategic Advisory<ul><li>Play a defining role in shaping CCR's interconnection strategy across ISOs/RTOs by deeply understanding evolving regulatory frameworks and translating them into project configuration and queue positioning recommendations.</li><li>Support project optimization strategies including surplus interconnection, project resizing, and alternative interconnection configurations.</li><li>Develop commercialization strategies for co-located large load and generation facilities.</li><li>Support GIA negotiations by providing technical context and strategic recommendations to project managers and commercial teams.</li><li>Advise senior leadership on the implications of FERC orders, market rule changes, and long-term transmission expansion trends.</li></ul>Policy &amp; Stakeholder Engagement<ul><li>Serve as CCR's technical representative in discussions with ISOs, RTOs, and utilities.</li><li>Partner with Grid Integration Project Managers to track and shape tariff updates, interconnection process reforms, and performance requirement changes in alignment with CCR's commercial priorities.</li></ul>Internal Leadership &amp; Infrastructure<ul><li>Act as CCR's internal subject matter expert on transmission planning and interconnection engineering.</li><li>Partner with development, finance, commercial, and operations teams to define and execute CCR's interconnection value proposition for large load customers.</li><li>Build and maintain internal systems, databases, and workflows that improve transparency, efficiency, and institutional knowledge across the Grid Integration team.</li></ul>Education &amp; Experience Required<ul><li>BS in Electrical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline from an accredited university required.</li><li>8+ years of transmission planning experience as a utility planner, generation developer, or consulting engineer.</li><li>Prior experience working across multiple ISOs and utilities with detailed knowledge of interconnection study methodologies.</li><li>Proficiency with power flow software (PSS/E, PowerWorld, TARA, or equivalent).</li><li>Python or other programming/scripting experience preferred.</li><li>Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize across multiple simultaneous workstreams.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical findings clearly to non-technical audiences.</li><li>Embrace and live by the mission and values of Cypress Creek Renewables.</li></ul>Location: The preferred location for this role is one of our offices in Asheville, NC; Durham, NC; NYC; and San Francisco, CA. Additionally, we are on a hybrid schedule 3/week. We are also open to hiring remotely.Compensation: The salary range for the position is $210,000-$240,000 plus bonus and benefits.
