We are present on four continents and are headquartered in Oslo, Norway. Main purpose of positionCurrently we are looking for a Senior Electrician in Kenhardt, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.  As our Senior Electrician you will perform Electrical work on the Plant that will include Modification, Repair and Maintenance of Electrical Equipment and Systems as well as switching, isolation, earthing and LOTO duties as per Authorisation level. You will be required to support to provide training and supervision to junior personnel and to be the Authorized Person on Duty (APD) when the Technical Manager is off site. Main responsibilities <ul> <li>Perform modification, repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all plant electrical equipment and systems</li> <li>Execute switching, isolation, earthing, and LOTO activities in line with authorisation levels</li> <li>Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure optimal plant performance</li> <li>Maintain PV arrays, combiner boxes, DC systems, inverters, transformers, and switchgear</li> <li>Perform LV and HV switching operations as authorised</li> <li>Carry out routine inspections of electrical equipment, instruments, and tools</li> <li>Supervise, train, and support junior personnel; act as team leader when required</li> <li>Monitor and evaluate electrical staff performance and ensure adherence to standards</li> <li>Complete reporting, documentation, and maintenance records accurately</li> <li>Conduct HSE inspections and ensure compliance with safety regulations</li> <li>Act as Appointed/Authorised Person on Duty (APD) in the absence of the Plant Supervisor</li> <li>Perform general and ad hoc duties as required on site</li></ul>Qualifications and competencies <ul> <li>N3 Qualification, Qualified Electrician and ORHVS qualification</li> <li>Registered 3 phase installation electrician (SANS 10142); not single-phase tester</li> <li>Computer literate – Excel &amp; Word</li> <li>5+ years Electrical experience – AC &amp; DC electrical systems</li> <li>Solar PV Plant &amp; BESS experience advantageous</li> <li>Proven experience on MV &amp; HV equipment troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance </li> <li>Ability to take ownership of electrical systems on the plant</li> <li>High Voltage Switching and Solar PV Plant experience</li> <li>Supervision and training - Supervise, train junior personnel in associated duties and evaluate electrical staff</li> <li>Maintain Transformers and Switchgear and Assist with reporting and perform various HSE related inspections</li> <li>Experience with HV Switching, Solar PV Plant &amp; BESS</li> <li>Electrical knowledge (LV) and (HV)</li> <li>Technical Support and Reporting</li> <li>Operating System and Process Control</li> <li>Non-conformances and claims management</li> <li>Language: fluent both written and spoken in English</li></ul>Personal characteristicsIt is part of every employees’ terms of reference to contribute to Scatec's vision: Improving our Future and adhere to our company values which are:<ul> <li>Predictable: demonstrate clear communication and listening skills, shares information in an open and honest way</li> <li>Driving results: demonstrate determination, pro-activeness, can prioritise and work independently</li> <li>Changemaker: demonstrate entrepreneurship, can challenge, fast learner, take initiates and adjust</li> <li>Working together: demonstrate teamwork, shares responsibilities, can compromise, has a can-do attitude</li></ul>For the particular role we also expect<ul> <li>Required to work in rotating working schedule and perform standby services as per site requirements including weekends and public holidays</li> <li>Be able to stand-in for Technical Manager </li> <li>Must be available to travel as and when required</li> <li>Valid drivers’ license </li></ul>We OfferScatec is an exciting, innovative and ambitious company operating in a growing industry.
