About the Job
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and iterate on novel mechanical systems for rare earth and metal extraction processes
- Lead equipment installation and scaling efforts across pilot and production systems
- Solve real-time mechanical challenges using first-principles thinking and hands-on execution
- Improve system reliability and efficiency through iterative mechanical optimization
- Develop detailed fabrication drawings and oversee in-house and vendor-based part fabrication
- Identify root causes of system failures and implement robust engineering solutions
- Operate within strict performance and safety parameters while pushing innovation
- Create test plans and execute performance evaluations for mechanical subsystems
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience designing, building, and operating mechanical systems in a lab or industrial setting
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mechanical design principles
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks or equivalent) and mechanical analysis tools
- Ability to thrive in high-intensity, ambiguous environments and own end-to-end projects
- Hands-on fabrication or prototyping experience (machining, welding, assembly)
- Strong problem-solving mindset with the drive to build first-of-kind technology
- Must be able to start on June 2nd
