What You’ll be doing

Help feed our community by preparing and cooking the Co-op’s recipes from scratch. Ensure that finished products coming out of the kitchen meet the Co-op standards. Production team members are responsible for providing a welcoming and inclusive environment by offering great customer service. You will also assist with placing orders, receiving products, stocking, and maintaining displays.



What You’ll be Responsible for

  • Preparing soups, salads and entrees for service case, GnG (Grab and go) case, and salad bar.
  • Providing friendly and welcoming service to customers and fellow co-workers.
  • Being aware of all co-op’s deli promotions and advertisements.
  • Merchandising the department to enhance shopping experience and maximize sales, including ensuring proper pricing and signage.
  • Stocking, rotating and facing product according to department’s procedure.
  • Maintaining back-stock areas according to department’s standards.
  • Receiving product and ensuring invoice accuracy.  
  • Placing orders as directed by the department managers on occasion.
  • Following department-safe food handling procedures.
  • Ensuring department sanitation, cleanliness and safety standards are met.
  • Performing other front and back of house duties as needed or assigned.


Requirements


Qualifications

  • Willingness to be trained up to Co-op’s kitchen standards. Previous kitchen experience is preferred, but not required.  
  • Ability to provide excellent, friendly, face-to-face customer service in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to learn about specialty and prepared foods and has an interest in gaining knowledge of natural and organic grocery industry. 
  • Ability to remain calm, think quickly, prioritize effectively, and problem solve within established guidelines, while handling multiple demands.
  • Ability to work well with others in a cooperative environment where teamwork, compassion and constant communication are essential.
  • Ability to meet expectations of regular, predictable attendance.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, and weekends. 
  • Ability to maintain current food handler card.
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in moderate and loud noise environments including, but not limited to paging, telephones, human voices, music, and machinery. 
  • Ability to withstand prolonged standing and walking.
  • Ability to frequently reach, bend, twist, and rotate.
  • Has regular fine motors skills working and gripping with hands.
  • Ability to lift 30 to 50, occasionally.
  • Tolerant of repetitive tasks such as stirring, chopping, cutting.
  • Can withstand exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals. 
  • Can withstand exposure varying to temperatures: Coolers, freezers, ovens/stoves.
