As a Staff Quantitative Analyst, you will support decision making in trading, portfolio management, and risk assessment, at the heart of PGE’s clean energy transition. You will collect and integrate data from various sources, contribute to modeling efforts, and assist in evaluating energy supply, portfolio risk, and asset valuation.

This role is ideal for someone with intermediate data literacy and strong analytical curiosity, looking to grow their skills in a dynamic environment. You’ll gain hands-on expereince in the evolving energy markets while helping shape how PGE manages risk and optimizes the power supply portfolio.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Sourcing & Engineering - Collects and integrates data from internal and external sources with guidance. Begins to build and maintain repeatable data workflows using SQL and scripting languages.

Quantitative Modeling & Risk Analysis - Assists in building and running models for forecasting, valuation, or risk analysis. Learns and applies standard quantitative techniques (e.g., regressions, Monte Carlo simulation) with oversight.

Portfolio Optimization & Valuation - Performs analytical tasks to evaluate supply, risk, or asset value using structured approaches. Participates in valuation of contracts or hedge strategies with direction.

Visualization & Communication - Builds basic Tableau dashboards or Excel tools to share insights. Begins tailoring communication to audience needs and technical levels.

Strategic & Cross- Functional Collaboration (Business Partnership and Thought Leadership) - Collaborates with adjacent teams on scoped projects. Learns to frame data questions around trading and portfolio strategy.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, economics, finance, engineering, or a related field preferred.

Experience

  • Typically two or more years of experience in the energy industry or a similar analytical field. Some knowledge of electric utility markets or the Western energy region preferred.

Certifications

  • Experience using SQL, Python, or R for data analysis. Exposure to forecasting, regression techniques, or Monte Carlo simulations a plus.

  • Does the job require a valid driver's license? - Yes

  • Driving/travel/commute: Daily within service territory - Frequently (at least once a week or more)

  • Driving/travel/commute: Overnight inside/outside the service territory - Occasionally (one to two times a month or less)

  • Computer use (use computer regularly for entire work shift)

  • Lifting/pushing/pulling (check appropriate weight): Up to 10 lb

  • Carrying (check appropriate weight): Up to 10 lb

  • Office environment

Compensation Range:

$84,450.00 - $140,750.00

Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
